Legal notice and terms of use
These terms govern your use of the BookHero app and the book-hero.app website. By creating an account you accept them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use BookHero.
1. Legal notice
In compliance with article 10 of Spain’s Information Society Services Act (LSSI-CE), the owner of the BookHero app and the book-hero.app website is Unimedia Technology S.L.U., Tax ID (NIF) B66934365, registered office at C/ Esteve Terradas, 1, 111A, Parc Mediterrani de la Tecnologia (PMT), 08860 Castelldefels (Barcelona), Spain. Contact: through our contact form or at info@unimedia.tech.
2. The service
BookHero helps families link reading to screen time. Children read physical books, answer a short quiz and earn tokens, which parents let them exchange for screen time at a rate the parent sets. BookHero is a token bank and timer: it does not lock or control other devices or apps. Decisions about your children’s screen time remain yours.
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or over to create an account. Children use BookHero through profiles created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.
- You are responsible for the information you enter, for keeping your login and parent PIN private, and for how your children use the app.
- One family account covers up to two parents and four children.
4. Price, subscriptions and payment
BookHero is free to download and to start using. Some features may require an in-app subscription. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Subscriptions are sold and billed through Google Play (and the App Store once the iOS version is available), and renew automatically until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from your Google Play account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds follow Google Play’s policies. This doesn’t affect any rights you have as a consumer under the law.
5. Acceptable use
Use BookHero for its intended purpose. Don’t try to access other people’s data, interfere with the service, reverse engineer the app beyond what the law allows, or upload content that isn’t a page of a book being read.
6. Quiz content
Quiz questions are generated automatically by AI from the page photographed. We work to make them accurate and age-appropriate, but they may occasionally contain mistakes. If a question looks wrong, you can review the session in parent mode and adjust tokens.
7. Intellectual property
The app, website, brand, design and software are owned by Unimedia Technology S.L.U. or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your family’s private, non-commercial use. Books and their content belong to their respective authors and publishers.
8. Availability and liability
We aim to keep BookHero available and working, but we can’t guarantee it will be free of interruptions or errors. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages or for decisions made based on the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from the app or by sending a request through the contact form. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, after notice where possible.
10. Changes
We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or the law. We’ll tell you in the app before material changes take effect. If you keep using BookHero after that, the new terms apply.
11. Law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you can bring claims before the courts of your place of residence. Otherwise, the courts of Barcelona have jurisdiction.
